5 reasons why your business needs to move to the cloud

Not all businesses are enthusiastic at the thought of making changes within their business… and moving to the cloud is a big one. However, there is a growing trend in companies shifting to cloud-based solutions. Why is this?

1. Reduced costs

When you shift to cloud computing, you only pay for the services procured rather than having to - you can choose a package that suits your budget and save costs. Storage is easier and less expensive, and it lets organisations do more with less downtime. It also reduces infrastructure overhead as most on-premises servers have to be upgraded every few years and that is expensive.

2. Better security

The Cloud takes security a lot more seriously than you thought. Yes, there is some debate among experts about this, but many say the cloud overall can provide better security than on-premises servers. A breach of security at your premises can lead to compromised data security if laptops or computers are stolen. If you have data on the cloud, you can delete any confidential information remotely or move it to a different account.

3. Disaster readiness

With a robust cloud solution, if disaster strikes it won’t harm your network infrastructure in the cloud. And since the data is backed up by several cloud servers, a disaster affecting one of them still won’t stop you from accessing your network data.

4. Flexibility

One of the major benefits of cloud computing is mobility - the flexibility to work from any location. The number of workstations in the office can be reduced as you may allow some employees to work from home to save costs.

5. No back-up plan needed

In a traditional computing system, a disaster can lead to permanent data loss if no backup storage is in place. However, businesses do not require any such means when storing data on a cloud as the data will always be available as long as users have an internet connection.
